Q.1 What is a Satellite TV?
Satellite TV is provision of television services through satellite. The Satellite Television channel is received anywhere in the world where the foot print or beam of the Satellite is received.

Q.3 How to apply for Satellite TV Licence?
The Satellite TV Licences are issued to companies on case to case basis. The application form for Satellite TV licence, duly filled in, with requisite documents should be submitted to the PEMRA Headquarters, Islamabad. The application form is available on PEMRA website:
Q.4 What is the range of a Satellite TV station?
The range of a Satellite TV Station depends upon foot print or coverage area of the Satellite being used.
Q.5 Which frequency band is used for Satellite TV Operation?
C-Band and KU-Band is used for Satellite TV.
Q.6 What is a licence fee?
Licence fee is fixed at Rs.2.5 million.
Q.7 Is there any application processing fee?
Yes, it is Rs.200,000/-
Q.8 Are there any DO’s and DONT’s for Satellite TV licensees?
Yes, PEMRA licensees are bound to comply with the Code of Conduct, PEMRA Ordinance , Rules and Regulations.
Q.9 Who is eligible to apply for Satellite TV Licence?
A company registered with the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan under the Companies Ordinance, 1984 is only eligible to apply for Satellite TV Licence. For detail of eligibility conditions please visit Satellite TV licencing page on PEMRA website.
Q.10 How much investment is required?
It is difficult to give an exact figure as it depends on the quality of the Satellite TV Station and the current market prices. PEMRA as a policy promotes quality products.
Q.11 How to apply for specialized subject Satellite TV licence?
Statutory educational institutions may apply for specialized subject Satellite TV licence on prescribed Application Form. The applications are considered on case to case basis.
Q.12 Are licences issued for specialized subject satellite TV station?
Yes, PEMRA issues Satellite TV licences to public sector educational institutions. These licences are issued on non-commercial basis for educational purpose only.
Q.13 Whom do I contact in case of a complaint?
Firstly, there are Regional General Mangers in the provinces and Islamabad. Secondly, there are Councils of Complaints headed by eminent citizens in all provinces including Islamabad. These are two forums where complaints should normally be lodged. However, in case of a serious complaint or a serious technical problem, D.G. (Operation) may be contacted.
