Yes, for the operation of Cable TV Network, a License is mandatory under Section 19 of PEMRA Amendment Act 2023.

Q.3 Whether PEMRA has devised any Criteria for Cable TV Licensing? Moreover, how can I apply for Cable TV License?

Q.4 What is the Licensing procedure?

Q.5 What is the scope of Cable TV Network License?

The Licensee is authorized to establish and operate a Cable TV Network for providing distribution services on commercial basis. The License is valid only for a particular area of coverage. The License is given on non exclusive basis.

Q.6 Are Cable TV Licenses issued on not for profit/non-commercial basis?

No. Presently, Cable TV Licenses are issued on commercial basis.

Q.7 Does Cable TV License have different categories?

Yes. Cable TV Licenses are issued in different categories depending upon the subscribers count and area of coverage etc. Detail may be seen at https://www.pemra.gov.pk/ctv/.

Q.8 Are there any DO's and DONT's for Cable TV licensees?

Yes, PEMRA licensees are bound to comply with the Code of Conduct, PEMRA Ordinance, Rules and Regulations.

Q.9 Whom do I contact in case a complaint?

Firstly, there are Regional Directors in all provinces and Islamabad. Secondly, there are Councils of Complaints in all provinces including Islamabad.
