Q.1 What is LRP (Landing Rights Permission)?

Landing Right Permission (LRP) means permission to downlink and distribute a foreign Satellite TV Channel within the territory of Pakistan through licenced distribution network operations after appropriate approval/permission by the Authority.

Q.2 What is the difference between LRP and STV?

Landing Right Permission (LRP) means permission to downlink and distribute a foreign Satellite TV Channel within the territory of Pakistan whereas STV Licencee is authorized to establish and operate are broadcast via satellites, providing a wide range of television programming globally.

Q.3 What are the advantages of LRP (Landing Rights Permission)?

Q.4 How to apply for LRP Licence?

Applicant Company registered with SECP under Companies Ordinance 1984, may apply on prescribed application form along with required documents available on PEMRA website. In the event, the company is applying for more than one licence, or already holds a Landing Rights Permission for foreign satellite TV channel, the paid up capital shall be enhanced by Rs. 3.0 million for each additional channel subject to maximum of Rs. 20 million.

Q.5 What is the required authorized paid up capital for the grant of LRP Licence?

The required paid up capital for the grant of LRP Licence is Rs. 10 million.

Q.6 Is there any application processing fee?

Yes, It is Rs. 200,000/- (Two hundred thousand) that was not refundable.

Q.9 Am I, eligible to apply for the LRP (Landing Rights Permission)?

If, a company registered with the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan under the Companies Ordinance 1984 and a valid broadcast licence of foreign company by the concerned foreign authority. For detail of eligibility conditions please visit LRP licencing page on PEMRA website.

Q.10 What are the requirements for Distribution and Satellite Agreement for the grant of LRP Licence?

The agreements should be attested by foreign authority and also endorsement with Embassy of Pakistan.

Q.11 What category can I apply for the grant of LRP Licence?

Landing Rights Permission shall be granted by the Authority in the following categories:

  • News and Current Affairs
  • Sports
  • Children
  • General Entertainment
  • Teleshopping & Property
  • Education with content related to science & technology, space, environment, travel & tourism, energy conversation, history, nutrition, health etc.

Q.12 Are there any DO's and DONT's for LRP licencees?

Yes, PEMRA licencees are bound to comply with the Code of Conduct, PEMRA Ordinance, Rules and Regulations.
